SOLDIER CARE PACKAGES
Would you like an opportunity
to show U.S. soldiers who are connected to our church body your support
for their service to our country? Below are some pictures of our soldiers
currently serving in the military. As our soldiers serve overseas
we will be sending periodic care packages.
If you have an immediate family member who is a soldier serving overseas,
please contact Vickie Rohleder
with their name, address and a list of items they could use and we
will include them with our next soldier care packages. Thank you!

Josh
Braun:
Josh Braun
has returned stateside and is getting back into a normal routine
at his base in Ft Hood, Tx. He has said that he is so glad to be
back on American soil, but while he was over in Iraq he was very
thankful to have the support of so many people who faithfully prayed
for him, sent supplies and the much needed snacks as the MRE's soon
lost their flavor after having to eat them so often. He again says
to thank each one of you for everything you did whether it was a
letter, a care package or an encouraging note sent his way, it all
meant a lot to him and he very much has appreciated the support.
(Josh is the son of Andy & Belinda Braun)
Mary Looker:

Steve and Laura Dinkel reports that Mary
Looker, their daughter, has completed her tour in Afghanistan
and returned to the U.S.
Thank you for your prayers and outreach.

FROM T.J. HALLAM TO WESTVIEW:
Thank you for all your love and support, gifts and prayers during
this deployment. I hold sincere all the generosity brought to
me and my fellow Soldiers from all of you! Thank you for everything!
The last few weeks here seem never ending and more ridiculous
than ever. The temperature had been in the 130's pretty regular
until August and now has fallen into the 120's. Yes, there really
is a difference and yes, it is still pretty hot. The dust storms
have been the worst here in decades, you literally cannot see
the ground your walking on or what your walking into. When it's
over, we look like powdered doughnuts!
Iraq's sunrises and sunsets are of the most beautiful I've ever
seen. The sky's are filled with doves. Some mornings and nights
there isn't a sound, no war. Just a part of earth waking up or
just going to sleep.
The people here have absolutely nothing and give more than they
can afford, regardless the circumstances. I've seen families give
their last meal just to feed guests. They are grateful, generous
and kind, always.
We are both tired of this war, but know it isn't over. There are
still many milestones to cross and trust seems to be the only
real challenge to find any compromise. Fortunately, there is more
good here than not. :)
Again, I thank all of you for everything to make this deployment
more bearable for all of us!
Please tell Sandy that there are Soldiers all over Iraq praying
for her full recovery and give her our best!
Respectfully,
SPC Thomas J. Hallam

Meals on Wheels
One out of every four seniors goes hungry each day. They suffer from a variety of disabilities such as, severe arthritis, blindness, and heart disease - - Leaving them too frail to shop for food and physically unable to prepare their own meals. But with your help we'll deliver the hot, nutritious meals your elderly neighbors so desperately need, right to their doorsteps.
Thank you to all who
have served in this ministry by delivering Meals on Wheels. Your ministry
to the homebound seniors in our community is appreciated.
Our next opportunity to serve in this ministry
is October 4-8. If you would like to participate, please contact Vickie
Rohleder.
You are really needed!
