The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance in the United States that encourages people to come together in prayer. It is observed on the first Thursday of May each year, inviting people from different faiths and backgrounds to pray for the nation and its leaders. 

Participants often focus on praying for the government, military, education, media, business, and families. It's a time for many to seek guidance, peace, and strength for the country.

The National Day of Prayer will be held locally on Thursday, May 1, noon, at the Hays VFW Ballroom (large hall).  The VFW  will provide refreshments.
